Named after a 2003 book of Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky's striking images, this documentary follows the artist and his team as they visit China, Bangladesh and other far flung locales, aiming to capture the beauty in such eye sores as an open coal mine and an oil tanker construction yard where the ground is coated in a thick layer of sludge. With meticulous detail, Manufactured Landscapes dissects Burtynsky's working practices and his unique perspective on a rapidly changing world of industry and pollution.
