Fans back Alan Partridge to replace Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson

With Jeremy Clarkson suspended from Top Gear following an alleged fracas with a producer, the show has a presenter slot to fill. And thousands are throwing their support behind Alan Partridge. Yes, the fictional Alan Partridge.

A petition has been launched on Change.org, getting more than 15,000 signatures in its first 24 hours. The petition highlights his strong track record of broadcast presenting, as well as his ability to talk about and inform on a range of topics. His work experience includes his BBC chat show, ‘Knowing Me Knowing You’; his Radio Norwich slot; and his motoring TV work on ‘Crash! Bang! Wallop! (What a video)’.

Alan has showcased his ability to defuse tense situations, as we saw in Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa. But, if the BBC wants to retain that spark and fire that Clarkson is known for, Alan can match him there too.

The campaign can be supported on Change.org and is also promoting itself using #HirePartridge on social media.
