Fifty Shades of Grey was a monumental box office success, pulling down almost $570 million worldwide and creating quite the storm of news and controversy.
With that amount of cash, it was a given that the rest of E.L. James book series would be adapted for the screen, and though cast and crew shuffles have been causing some issues behind the scenes its now all systems go for Fifty Shades Darker. And, lo and behold, there's already a teaser video!
In case you missed your daily dose of Jamie Dornan...
Admittedly, it's not much of a teaser but there's a good reason for that - the film hasn't even started shooting! It was recently revealed that Darker wouldn't make its planned 2016 release date - we're assuming because it was running too late to hit the Valentines day bow which worked out so well for its predecessor - so the sequel will arrive in February 2017.
Given the script is still in the works. it seems most likely that this footage is something trimmed from the first film and that the studio just wants to keep their movie and Dornan on people's minds. Expect a big push once more when it hits home video (in an 'Unseen Edition') in June and we wouldn't be surprised to see another disk version pop out in 2016.
Fifty Shades Darker has been described as 'more of a thriller' by the studio folks, and the plot of the book - which involves a former flame of Christian Grey getting stalkery - certainly lends itself to that genre twist. There's no director in place and author James and her husband Niall Leonard are said to be penning the script, so it's going to be even worse than the first one.
Fifty Shades of Grey is on DVD and blu-ray on June 22nd 2015. Fifty Shades Darker hits cinemas February 2017, Fifty Shades Freed arrives in February 2018.
