Neil Jordan’s latest
Byzantium has recently completed principal photography in and around Dublin and today we’ve got the first official still, thanks to
Deadline.
The film stars
Saoirse Ronan, here looking a little bloody, and
Gemma Arterton as a mother and daughter who also happen to be vampires. After a violent crime, the two flee the scene and end up on the run as their past starts to catch up with him.
Jordan is directing the film based on a script by
Moira Buffini, who adapted her own play. The director has had little success in the last few years, with a string of titles like
Ondine and
The Brave One which have failed to gain much traction at the box office. But he’s handled vampires before in 1994s
Interview with a Vampire and if he can bring a little of the creepy charm of
The Company of Wolves to the proceedings, Byzantium could be just the hit he needs.
Byzantium is currently set for a 2012 release, more details when we get them.
