The trailer for dramatic comedy
Friends with Kids has just arrived online and while it may look a little familiar, there’s plenty of mileage in the top drawer cast.
The film tells the story of a bunch of 30 something’s increasingly torn apart by the invasion of children into the picture. The two remaining singletons, played by
Adam Scott and writer/director
Jennifer Westfeldt resolve to get physical, pop out a kid of their own and share custody while they continue to date other people. Problems, and emotions, ensue.
First things first, yes it looks like a
Bridesmaids reunion (with
Chris O’Dowd,
Kristin Wiig,
Jon Hamm and
Maya Rudolph) and yes you’ve seen this before but a decent comedic cast and an indie bent might be enough to make things a little fresh. Our only other major issue at the moment? O’Dowd’s dodgy American accent. Stick with the lilt, Chris – people will think you’re charming.
Friends with Kids also stars
Megan Fox (as Scott’s unlikely girlfriend) and
Edward Burns and made its debut at the
Toronto International Film Festival in September 2011. It has yet to confirm a local release, though expect it in 2012.
