Ghost in the Shell is one of the defining animes of the last two decades, mostly because it achieved a rare popularity in the west for its combination of action and pretty weird plotting.
Now there's a live action version in the works starring Scarlett Johansson and the first footage is here.
This video appeared online in several fragments and seeing them put together is pretty jarring and still doesn't reveal a whole lot. It does see Johansson continuing the sci-fi trend she started with Her, Lucy and Under the Skin and if that quality continues we could be in for a treat.
Rupert Sanders is at the helm, best known for Snow White and the Huntsman and getting in a spot of bother with his wife over an affair with Kristen Stewart. This is his second film and he certainly has an eye for great visuals.
Ghost in the Shell is set for release in March 2017.
