Monday night saw the 21st Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards take place to celebrate the very best in independent cinema from the past twelve months. Terrence Malick's Tree of Life and Mike Mills' Beginners shared the gong for best feature, while Dee Rees won Breakthrough Director for Pariah.
Other winners included Felicity Jones who picked up breakthrough actor for Like Crazy, Beginners for Best Ensemble Performance, Better This World from directors Katie Galloway and Kelly Duane de la Vega picked up Best Documentary, the Audience Award went to Girlfriend from director Justin Lerner and the Best Film Not Playing At A Theatre Near You Award went to Scenes of a Crime from Blue Hadaegh and Grover Babcock.
