Guardians of the Galaxy was one of the most enjoyable movies of 2014 and with the continuing success of all things Marvel its not much of a surprise to know that there's a sequel on the way.
And it does seem to be on the way pretty soon, at least considering that the production already has a shooting start date. Guardians 2 will go before cameras in February 2016 and the magic will happen at the Pinewood Studios in Atlanta Georgia. The first film was shot in London but the sequel will go into production in the same location as Ant-Man and the upcoming Captain America Civil War.
We don't know a lot about the sequel just yet but with the entire main cast surviving the first film its a sure thing that they'll all be back. The end of Guardians was all about trying to figure out where Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) came from - most specfically who his dad is - so you can expect that to be a big part of the second film. And there's also big bad Thanos to contend with as well. Happily, writer/director James Gunn is very much back on board, and he's still tinkering with the script at the moment. The filmmaker revealed the shooting date news on Periscope (which is the latest thing, we hear).
Guardians 2 is set for release in May 2017, and we've got Age of Ulton, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange to look forward to before then!
