Harrison Ford is a legitimate legend and he's just added a new chapter to that mythos by surviving an airplane crash unscathed.
The 72 year old star was taking off in his own vintage World War 2 plane from Santa Monica Municipal Airport when he ran into some engine trouble. The experienced pilot (who has been flying for more than 20 years) had to find a way to safely land and ended up coming down on the fairway at the Penmar Golf Club less than 2 miles from the airport.
Initial reports suggested that Ford had sustained serious injuries as he was rushed to hospital but further updates have confirmed that he was battered in the crash but is stable. His son Ben Ford (who is an author and chef) has been tweeting from the hospital assuring fans and thanking well wishers.
It's great to hear that the actor is doing well, and also that he very much lives up to the legendary aspect of so many of his characters. Best wishes to Harrison Ford from all of us, let's hope he's up and ready to shoot that Blade Runner sequel soon!
Ford will next be seen on screen in The Age of Adaline next to Blake Lively before reprising his role as Han in Star Wars Episode VII this December.
