The Game never ends, and so it goes with HBO and Game of Thrones.
The network has officially confirmed that Game of Thrones will be renewed for a seventh season, just a few days prior to the start of season six. There's nothing surprising in this news, especially given the success of the show to date and the fact the previous reports have suggested a plan until the end of season eight.
Still it's good to know ahead of time that every single character can't perish this season, while we wait for more tales of dragons and nastiness. Some news recently suggested that the seventh and eight seasons could have shorter runs but there was no mention of that in the confirmation.
HBO also took the chance to renew two of their most well regarded comedy shows right now, Veep and Silicon Valley. These two actually provide an hour of laughs after the horror of Game of Thrones every Sunday on the network, and it's a set up that seems to be working for everyone.
Game of Thrones season six will debut on HBO in the States on the 24th of April and on Sky Atlantic in Ireland on Monday the 25th of April, 2016.
