Fast 8 already has an absolutely massive cast, but there's always room for one more, especially an Oscar winner.
Dame Helen Mirren will join the new film, and she's really excited to get behind the wheel of a muscle car. She's talked about wanting to join the franchise before and it seems Vin Diesel answered the call and made it happen.
Mirren confirmed the news to Elle, and revealed she'd love to have an active role:
"[on Eye in the Sky]I like it to be serious. Of course, having said that I'm about to do Fast and Furious 8. But that's for the fun of it. So maybe that's what I want as well, some fun and some relevant, serious, important movies... I've always rather loved driving. I said, 'I'll be in it, but only if I'm allowed to drive if I do drive in it.' But we'll see. We'll see how it transpires."
That's pretty amazing news and we totally buy the 70 year old as a bad ass in any kind of movie, like her turn in Red 2 a couple of years back. She's a force to be reckoned with and we'll be disappointed if she doesn't tear things up in some kind of automobile. Maybe she could become part of the regular crew?
She certainly knows her way around a track - go to 5.30.
She joines other newcomers Charlize Theron and Scott Eastwood, as well as a lot of familiar returning faces. Fast 8 is set for release in April 2016.
