Guardians of the Galaxy is in cinemas now and its great and you should go see and we've got more words on that subject right here.
The film is chock full of gags and injokes and little details in the background that are treasure troves for pop culture, sci-fi and Marvel fans. But one moment might pass you by. Firefly and Castle (and Slither) star Nathan Fillion has mentioned a couple of times that he filmed a cameo for Guardians, but its not that easy to spot.
So we've got the details.
Early on in the film, our (semi-) heroes find themselves on the Kyln, a hulking prison space station where the scum of the galaxy are placed for safe-keeping. The crew isn't there for more than a few minutes before they get into a spot of bother, as a massive monsterous purple think squares up to Chris Pratt's Peter Quill and suggests the unsavoury things he has in mind.
That bit purple monster thing, that's Nathan Fillion.
Ok so his voice has been fiddled with and he's obviously covered in some top notch CG wizardry but that's definitely him. And what a way to deal with a cameo role for a familar face, liberally painting over it to give fans one more detail to delve deep for. Though honestly I would have liked to see him actually feature, maybe in a recurring role so we could look forward to more from Fillion in three years time for the already announced sequel.
There just isn't enough Nathan Fillion around these days. Here's some gag reel goodness to bring up the Nathan quotient.
