Finally, HMV is coming back to its prime position on Dublin's Grafton Street.
More than a year after the flagship store was forced to close, HMV is back - with thanks to new owners Hilco. On Saturday the 19th of April 2014 at 8am, the new store will throw open its doors with a bunch of offers and other treats for its customers.
Ministry of Sound DJ Shane Kehoe, and Dublin’s DJ Francois will DJ live from the HMV window on Saturday, while a stellar line-up of Irish bands will perform live in the store during the day, including Limerick’s Hermitage Green; Riptide Movement, currently No. 1 on the Irish album chart; Seo Linn, the Irish language group behind last summer’s viral covers of songs including Blurred Lines and Avicci’s Wake Me Up; and Dublin band We Cut Corners. HMV will be giving out free candy floss and popcorn to visitors to the store.
Gaming lovers can get their hands on one of the most coveted pieces of hardware going, with HMV giving a free PlayStation 4 console to the first person in the queue outside HMV Grafton Street on Saturday morning. A second Playstation 4 will be given out later that day, with fans urged to check out HMV Ireland’s Twitter page for details.
HMV will also run a fun ‘Selfie’ competition through the @HMVGraftonSt Twitter account on Saturday, with fans encouraged to take selfies of themselves at HMV Grafton Street, using the hashtag #hmvgrafton. The best selfies will win fantastic HMV goodies on the day.
HMV is marking the opening of HMV Grafton Street with a massive Record Store Celebration. Exclusive offers will be available throughout the day, including 40% off ALL vinyl. There will also be amazing one day only deals across movie, music, games and technology including Blu-ray players for €9.99 and €100 off Xbox One and PS4 consoles. Stock is limited so get down early.
HMV will reopen at the former A-wear shop on Grafton Street at 8am on Saturday the 19th of April. Get down there!
