Hugh Jackman may be the only actor in Hollywood capable of stepping into the shoes of the immortal Wolverine, but it looks as though he's starting to lose his interest in the character, giving his clearest indication yet that he could be ready to walk away from the role.
In an interview with SFX Magazine, Jackman confirmed that he's not actually signed up for a third standalone Wolverine movie, but claims he's interested in doing one assuming it can improve on last year's disappointing The Wolverine.
When asked about the potential sequel, Jackman was surprisingly candid, saying:
I’m excited to see what we can come up with, but I haven’tsignedon signed on.I’m genuinely at that point where unless it’s better than the last one I’m not going to do it.I can still see where we can improve on the last one. I don’t want to get into specifics, because it just upsets people, but there are certain parts of that story where I felt we were predictable. And I don’t think you need to do that with Wolverine.
What’s exciting is that you can make it a more interior story, and people actually prefer that. And that was good to show and convince everyone -especially everyone who greenlights the movies.
Jackman will next be seen in the role of Wolverine in this summer's X-Men: Days of Future Past, but beyond that? It all looks to be up in the air...
