Inside Out is the Dublin Film Critics Circle's best film of 2015

Members of the Dublin Film Critics Circle (DFCC) have voted Pixar's Inside Out the best film of 2015.

There was stiff competition from a number of other heavy hitters, including Mad Max: Fury Road, which was a winner with critics groups elsewhere in the world. In the end, Max was left to wander the desert in second.

Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy’s The Tribe, a Ukrainian film set among the deaf, and Todd Haynes’s Carol, a story of lesbian romance from the 1950s were next in line with the recently released Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the less hyped Tangerine, a no-budget film shot on iPhones, sharing fifth.

John Crowley’s Brooklyn, which is being acclaimed this award's season was named as best Irish film, but shared this honour with Conor Horgan’s documentary on Panti Bliss, Queen of Ireland.

Daisy Ridley was named as the best international breakthrough thanks to her performance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, while the best breakthrough in the domestic category went to Tallaght’s Jordanne Jones who appeared in I Used to Live Here.
