We've had our eye on Showrunners for a couple of years now, ever since it went through a successful Kickstarter in December of 2012.
The documentary from Irish director Des Doyle set out to interview some of the biggest names in television - the so-called Showrunners who take on and oversee an entire series, including writing and production.
It's a huge job and as TV has become more and more of a coveted medium its become increasingly important not only to keeping the coherence of a show across years but also representing the personality of the show to the world at large. Showrunners are often outspoken and visible advocates across all kinds of media.
For the doc, Doyle and his crew managed to get incredible access to some truly famous sorts, including:
Joss Whedon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer/Firefly), J.J. Abrams (LOST, Alias), Kurt Sutter (Sons Of Anarchy), Damon Lindelof (LOST, The Leftovers), Ronald D.Moore (Battlestar Galactica, Outlander), Bill Prady (The Big Bang Theory), Jane Espenson (Once Upon A Time, Husbands), Jonathan Nolan (Person Of Interest), Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire), Robert & Michelle King (The Good Wife), J.H. Wyman (Fringe, Almost Human), Hart Hanson (Bones), Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus) Shawn Ryan (The Shield) Matthew Carnahan (House of Lies) and many more.
