Jake Gyllenhaal teaming up with Prisoners director again

Jake Gyllenhaal is to team up with Denis Villeneuve on a film adaptation of Jo Nesbo's novel The Son.

Previously, the pair worked together on Prisoners and Enemy, and it looks like things are going to get pretty dark once again. The Son follows the story of a 15-year-old who suffers a criminal breakdown after his father commits suicide. But all may not be what it seems...

Variety assumes that Jake Gyllenhaal will play the role of the son, as the main plot points occur in the years following his incarceration.

It's early days yet, though. There's no production schedule or release date in place for The Sun just yet.
