I previously wrote about the fact that Marvel and Disney chose not to include the post credit scenes in press prints of Guardians of the Galaxy. And it's a fair and savvy thing to do - giving first day audiences a chance to see something that couldn't possibly spoiled and also ensuring that press folks who are interested might have to actually pay to go see it!
We've still got no word on exactly what it will entail but James Gunn has dropped some hints in a chat with Total Film. Firstly he confirmed that there will indeed be a post-credit scene (phew!) and also said that it's going to be a bit different to what has come before:
"We have a post-credit sequence that’s all our own! That in all honestly we have just been doing the past few days so I think it’s going to be a great deal of fun for people."
When asked if he could sum up the scene at all, the writer/director had this to day: "You don’t even want to know what it is! Pure joy, pure joy, that’s two words!"
That's hardly loads of information but from this it seems like GOTG won't have a call back to the rest of the Marvel-verse. That's surprising in and of itself but the world here is so distinct it would have been a shame to go shoehorn in a reference to Iron Man or something like that. Whatever the scene ends up being, it will have to work very hard to be in with a chance of topping the scene which plays out during the current credits.
Guardians of the Galaxy is in cinemas from the 31st of August.
