Yesterday we reported that Deadpool director Tim Miller wouldn't be returning to direct the sequel, apparently because of some creative differences with star and producer Ryan Reynolds.
That's very sad news because the partnership between these two, as well as writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick made the film a really uniquely screwed up addition to the Marvel-verse.
It seems we're not the only ones who are down about it, with Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn also voicing his thoughts.
In case you don't know, Gunn is one of the coolest cats in Hollywood, mostly because he manages to work within the massive Disney/Marvel machine but still answer questions honestly when he can and generally manages to retain his own opinion. It doesn't hurt that Guardians was a heck of a good time.
In many ways Gunn would be an excellent replacement for Miller, but there's the slight problem of him rushing to complete Guardians 2 in time for next year while production is set to start pretty soon on Deadpool 2.
For the moment, we'll have to wait and see how this all pans out but with a proposed 2018 release date for the film expect some annoucements soon.
