We've been hearing about Anthropoid for quite a while, mostly because the film is headed up by two Irish actors - Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan. Now we have the first trailer for what looks like an intense wartime thriller.
The title is the real codename of the operation which targeted Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich in Prague in 1942. He was one of the most high ranking Nazi officers in the war, and the attack was intended to show that Prague was not willing to stand in support of the Reich.
Naturally it looks like things are pretty tense for most of the film, and Murphy has the perfect face for that kind of scenario. We're not so sure about Dornan's acting prowess but at least he doesn't have a ridiculous American accent this time around, though the accent that everyone is doing is questionable.
British director Sean Ellis takes the helm and with previous efforts like Cashback and Lena Headey starrer The Broken to his name we'll have to wait and see if he has the skills to pull off a much more complex feature.
Anthropoid debuts at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in the Czech Republic on the 1st of July, 2016. There's no Irish release date as yet.
