John Williams to score Spielberg's Ready Player One

John Williams has confirmed that he will score Spielberg’s Ready Player One, with his work on it beginning in November.

In an interview with Variety, he acknowledged that he could use a little break, following a busy 14 months, which included work on Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The BFG. But it doesn’t look like he’s going to stop any time soon.

He hopes to do the next Star Wars. “If I can do it, I certainly will. I told Kathy Kennedy I’m happy to do it, but the real reason is, I didn’t want anybody else writing music for Daisy Ridley,” he told Variety.

Spielberg will also be pleased to hear that Williams isn’t slowing down just yet. “Steven expects me to work until I’m 100!”, Williams joked.
