Jurassic Park couldn't be a bigger part of my childhood - it was the biggest event movie ever to happen to my tiny mind when it arrived in 1993. It was everywhere, and the movie totally blew me away.
So any attempt at a reboot is going to be met with more than a little cynicism and I'm not sure the first trialer for the new Jurassic World did much to sway that. It was pretty much all homage, all the time. The Superbowl spot is, thankfully, better.
It just does a better job of selling this as its own film, with some unique threats and the familiar (but necessary) theme of - 'listen, just don't screw with dinosaurs, m'kay?!'
And this time around, there's even half a suggestion that Chris Pratt could have a character plus the reveal of the fact that he's basically some kind of Raptor-wrangling magician. That's going to add a new dimension to the adventure, when he and his pack go hunting for the genetically mutated dino known as the D-Rex.
Urge to enjoy, rising...
Jurassic World is in cinemas from the 12th of June 2015.
