Jurassic World writer signs on to Pacific Rim 2

Jurassic World co-writer Derek Connolly has signed on to Pacific Rim 2.

It’s as yet unclear what involvement he’ll have, as Guillermo del Toro, Zak Penn (X-Men: The Last Stand), and Jon Spaihts (Prometheus) have already finished off the drafts. The Hollywood Reporter says that it’s not known if he’s working on a "page-one rewrite or developing certain story ideas."

Steven S DeKnight (showrunner on season one of Daredevil) has taken over directorial duties from del Toro. He is still going to produce Pacific Rim 2 alongside Jurassic World producer Thomas Tull, Pacific Rim producer Mary Parent, and Godzilla producer Jon Jashni.

Pacific Rim 2 was set to start shooting last November, but production was delayed leading to reports that it was to be put on hold indefinitely, if not cancelled. Del Toro has since said that the film is still on, and things seem to be progressing, at least.
