So Furious 7 is a hugely entertaining wham, crash and bam fest but it's also a film which serves as a multi-million dollar tribute to the actor Paul Walker, who tragically died in November 2013 during production of the massive film.
That loss is dealt with in a very careful and considerate way n the film, especially the closing moments of the movie which are almost self aware in the way they allow co-star Vin Diesel to comment on his real-life pal Walker. The credits for the film then kick off with the song See You Again by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth and you can see some of the footage which appears in the film here as well.
It's an emotional song and a very touching tribute to Walker, and the fact that they managed to pull of a coherent film in these circumstances is pretty incredible. Instead of merely killing of the character, the script was re-written to give him a fitting send off, and two of Walker's brothers were drafted in to do body double work - you can see one such moment while Walker is playing on the beach his young son in the music video.
It's a sad loss but the film has happily gone on to massive success, earning almost $400 million in its opening weekend.
