Margot Robbie could get her own Harley Quinn movie

Margot Robbie could get her own Harley Quinn movie

Suicide Squad is the next movie on the way from the DC Universe which recently brought us Batman v Superman - but it's a very different affair because this is a story about supervillains.

A whole group of baddies to be exact who are recruited from their captive state to take on an impossible job - basically sending the worst of the worst on a suicide mission for the greater good. It's a win win situation for the good guys.

That team includes a whole mess of people like Jared Leto's Joker and Will Smith's Deadshot but one of the standout characers in the promos so far has definitely been Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn. And it seems there could be a lot more of her in the future.

Reports are coming out that Robbie herself would be interested in a spin off movie featuring the character and a bunch of other female DC folks. And Warner Bros are interested enough in the idea to get a script into the planning stages.

This is still early days for the potential project but Robbie has a good relationship with Warners (she's the female lead in Tarzan as well) and pending the success of Suicide Squad and fan reaction to the character it could have serious legs.

Where would this fit into the overall release shedule which is already planned out for the next several years? That remains to be seen but it's definitely not going to be a project which surfaces in much before the end of the decade at this stage.

Suicide Squad is in cinemas in August, 2016.
