It seems like this crops up regularly year since Matt Damon wound up his Bourne trilogy, but when asked about the possibility of reprising his role again during an interview with CNBC, the actor refused to rule anything out - but there was one caveat: he won't do it without Paul Greengrass taking the reins.
The Bourne trilogy is arguably the series that made Matt Damon a superstar, so it's only natural the actor would have a fondness for the role, however the hugely disappointing spin-off of sorts, The Bourne Legacy, can't have done the series' reputation any good, even if Jeremy Renner seemed like a good fit at the time.
Damon told the news station that, assuming things made sense at the time, with a great script and Greengrass directing, he'd have absolutely no qualms of tackling another installment in the action series:
It felt like such a good way to end it the last time, but having said that I love that character… and I’d love to see what happened to him.
Fingers crossed Universal Pictures can make everything fall into place for Damon, because we'd love nothing more than to see him step into Bourne's shoes once again.
