Moby Dick Tale In the Heart of the Sea With Chris Hemsworth Delayed Until December 2015

Ron Howard's In the Heart of the Sea was already getting heavy trailer-time but that's all on hold now as the release of the film has been delayed by 9 months to December 2015.

The film was to tell true story of a whaling ship which was attacked by a giant sea mammal in 1820, a tale which inspired Melville's Moby Dick, as well as the very harrowing aftermath of what happens when you get lost at sea.

The film was preparing for a March 2015 release but has been quite abruptly pushed. No official reason has been given but there are whispers that it would put the film in a better position for awards contention during the 2016 season. With a heavy dramatic storyand a director with form (Howard won for A Beautiful Mind in 2002), that makes a certain kind of sense. Are we looking at a year where Chris Hemsworth gets his first Oscar nod?

The US release date has been set at the 11th of December 2015 so it might be January 2016 before we see it in Ireland and the UK.
