Marvel's Daredevil fairly took the world by storm when it arrived on Netflix a few short weeks ago. It was well-cast, looked great and told a more grounded and gritty story than we've become used to from the superhero house.
So it's great to know that we're going to be enjoying these Marvel shows for a few years to come, with three more main series in the works plus a massive team up mini series towards the end of the decade.
The next show will be called AKA Jessica Jones and tells the story of the titular character. We didn't really know what Ms Jones (played by Krysten Ritter) was going to get up to in the series but now we've got a chunk more info thanks to info from the Amazon listing for the tie in book. It's not spoilery, so read on:
"Ever since her short-lived stint as a Super Hero ended in tragedy, Jessica Jones has been rebuilding her personal life and career as a hot-tempered, sardonic, badass private detective in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. Plagued by self-loathing, and a wicked case of PTSD, Jessica battles demons from within and without, using her extraordinary abilities as an unlikely champion for those in need… especially if they’re willing to cut her a cheque."
Sounds like the perfect role for Ritter - best known as the lead in 'The B**** in Apartment 23' - and an interesting take on the superhero condition we've come to know. She's broken and trying to find her place in the world, forcing her to end up in Hell's Kitchen. And it also sounds like she's still going to have some kind of power, and we'll likely get to see more action in flashbacks to the event which scarred her.
AKA Jessica Jones also stars David Tennant, Carrie-Anne Moss and Mike Colter - who embodies Luke Cage and will get his own show in the not too distant future.
AKA Jessica Jones will debut on Netflix in 2015.
