Fresh from the
SDCC (that’s
San Diego Comic-Con to you and me) we’ve got word that
DreamWorks Animation is pressing forward with a second sequel for the
Kung Fu Panda series.
Released in 2008, the first
Kung Fu Panda was a bit of animated fun, taking Jack Black’s corpulent bear like thing and throwing him into some daring action scenes on his way to becoming the famed Dragon Warrior. The second film, which arrived in 2011, was a terrific follow up – with a better story, peerless animation and great action. We even decided it was
our favourite film of the year!

Yesterday at
Comic-Con,
DreamWorks confirmed that they are moving ahead with
Kung Fu Panda 3, which is hardly surprising given the $1.2 billion haul of the first two instalments. Chief Creative Office for the company
Bill Damaschke was keen to point out that they have “10 movies in production and eight or nine in pre-production” so we won’t see
KFP3 for a little while yet. They’ve got
Rise of the Guardians and caveman pic
Croods on the way before then.
We, jointly and severally, cannot wait!
