Fifty Shades of Grey was a hit at the box office earlier this year. So it was more a case of when rather than if the other two books in EL James' trilogy would be adapted. Now we know that Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed will be released on February 10th, 2017 and February 9th, 2018.
These films continue the story of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. Former model Cara Delevingne is being linked with the role of Leila, a character who was previously in a relationship with Christian Grey. Expect her to cause some problems for the new couple.
It could be all change behind the scenes. Director Sam Taylor-Johnson will not be returning for the second and third instalments after numerous creative disagreements with James during the editing process, while screenwriter Kelly Marcel won’t return either. Instead, James’ husband Niall Leonard looks set to take on the challenge.
Universal is expected to include a brief teaser for Fifty Shades Darker on the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray of Fifty Shades. It’s going to have to be quite the tease to keep people going until 2017.
