Sorry to give you a shock there, sadly Captain Reynolds won't be flying with the Firefly crew again anytime soon. But Nathan Fillion could be getting his sci-fi shoes on again elsewhere with a rumoured role in Marvel's Guardian of the Galaxy.
It's actually a pretty safe bet - Guardians comes from director James Gunn who has a long friendship with Fillion and they previously collaborated on Slither. And then there's also the inescapable fact that Fillion should basically be in everyything. Ever.
Now, according to Comicbook.com, Fillion has been chatting at the Wizard World St. Louis Comic Con and in relation to a question on Guardians had this to say: "I’m just saying maybe….maybe there’ll be a surprise…maybe check the credits of the movie when you watch it.”
So we're thinking cameo role under lots of makeup that you won't recognise til afterwards. Or, given Fillion's sense of humour, Chris Pratt's Star Lord could literally accidentally bump into Malcolm Reynolds in a corridor. Seriously, Guardians is looking weird enough to pull that off.
We can't wait.
Guardians of the Galaxy is in cinemas from the 1st of August 2014.
