The Avengers was a pretty fun ride back in 2012, full of writer/director Joss Whedon's trademark pepping dialogue and some rip-roaring action in the final act. But Whedon can also go very dark (as anyone who watched Buffy will know) and it seems he's bringing everything to bear on the Marvel sequel.
In this new trailer which features a lot of new footage, we don't get a great sense of the story or how the characters are going to work together. But we do get a real feeling of... doom for want of a better word.
Honestly, it's not a great trailer in terms of clarity - its too short to include anything about the narrative, coming off more as an extended TV spot. But it definitely suggests a much darker tone for the sequel, as Tony Starks creation Ultron works to tear the team apart. Psychologically certainly but also possibly, you know, literally as well.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron is in cinemas from the 24th of April 2015.
