We've been looking forward to Suicide Squad for a whole host of reasons, from its killer cast to getting the opportunity to spend some time with some proper villains for a change.
But one of the biggest draws has to be the fact that this is a comic book movie which looks like it's going to remember to be fun, something which the DC universe in particular had always seemed to avoid. Consider Nolan's dense and dark Batman series or the everpresent stress of Dawn of Justice.
These are the really, really bad guys and they've been sent out on a mission that's pretty much designed to get them killed. But they just love danger and chaos, so this is basically a holiday for the new crew.
Warner Bros has debuted the main poster for the upcoming film and it's keeping the colourful theme and these big characters which will hopefully make the movie a memorable trip to the cinema when it arrives in August. Check it out below.
You can see the cast including Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Viola Davis and Joel Kinnaman, as well as Jai Courtney and Cara Delevigne. The style is certainly over the top, giving them a cell shaded look to remind viewers that yes, this did originate on the printed page. And that's no bad thing.
The film is directed by End of Watch and Fury helmer David Ayer and recently underwent some significant reshoots to punch things up a little. We're hearing that was to add more humour, possibly in response to the success of Deadpool and the rather dour Dawn of Justice, and that all sounds like great news.
See Suicide Squad in cinemas on the 5th of August, 2016.
