As much as I love 1984's The Terminator and its 90s sequel I'm still ok with there being a different take on the material with Genisys, and the all new trailer suggests just how much has changed this time around.
If you're hoping to go in blind, you'll want to avoid watching this.
It's great to see a bit more of the world here, including a glimpse at the young John Connor in the modern day setting. And also WHAT THE HELL!?
So in this scenario, there's something which looks like grown up John Connor (that's the excellent Jason Clarke) who is also milling around modern times and having chats with his mum, played by Emilia Clarke (actually no relation). This is in addition to T-1000 fellaLee Byung-hun and at least two different versions of Arnie's T-800! Jason Clarke is clearly from the future in some sense and claims to be neither man nor machine. That's a whole lot of stuff going on, without mentioning how the heck Sarah would know what her grown son would look like?!
For anyone who was worried that this feature would just a retread of the previous films, it seems pretty clear that everything has changed and that also means pretty much endless possibilites for this story as well as potential sequels in the future.
Terminator: Genisys is in cinemas in Ireland on the 3rd of July 2015.
