Fan favourite mutant Betsy Braddock, otherwise known as Psylocke, will feature in X-Men: Apocalypse with Olivia Munn taking on the role. Director Bryan Singer made the announcement on Instagram.
The roster is filling out nicely. We already know that Lana Condor’s Jubilee, Kodi Smit-McPhee’s Nightcrawler, Oscar Isaac’s Apocalypse, the young versions of people who were in other X-Men movies, and the cast from X-Men: Days of Future Past will appear in X-Men: Apocalypse. Now, we can add Psylocke to that extensive list.
So, what do you need to know about the latest addition to the roster? Psylocke is a British mutant with psychic powers. At some point, her mind got put into the body of a Japanese ninja, though it’s unclear if we’ll see the Psylocke of before or after this transition. Psylocke has been one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, so it’s unclear if she’ll be on the side of good or evil.
Olivia is known for her work on Attack of the Show and, most recently, in HBO’s The Newsroom. This will be her biggest role yet.
X-Men: Apocalypse will be released in May 2016.
