Despite the fact that it was, for want of a better term, a little bit rubbish, 2013's Olympus Has Fallen is set to get a sequel next year in the guise of the imaginatively titled London Has Fallen. Focus Features has already picked up distribution rights in the United States for the movie, and has confirmed an October 2nd release date next year.
Although no director has yet been signed up to take charge of shooting, the movie can at least count on the return of Gerard Butler, who'll be reprising his role in the sequel, which will no doubt tread cliched action movie ground and put him in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Despite the lack of director, details of the movie's plot have already surfaced, and will see an attack take place in London during the funeral of the country's Prime Minister, when things will almost certainly go all kinds of wrong. Expect plenty of loud explosions and gunfire, which isn't always a bad thing!
