Orange is the New Black was one of the biggest surprises of the last couple of years. What started out as a bit of a sardonic comedy set in a woman's prison really grew in its first season into an engaging and thoughful drama with well rounded characters set in a world which is wholly unfamilar to many viewers. It continued strong through season 2, which made it no suprise that a third season was set to follow. But now the show has been renewed for a fourth season, months before season 3 even airs!
That shows a huge amount of faith from parent company Netflix - which also streams the show on its service, and will happily see this rich cast get to play their roles for some time to come. Star Uzo Aduba (who plays Crazy Eyes) was on Good Morning America yesterday and confirmed that there would be another new season: "In June we’re going to go back to work.Netflixjust let us know we’re going to be doing a new season."
That's great news for everyone involved, with the new episodes set to air in 2016. But before all that, we've got season 3 to look forward to with our old favourites back for more. To celebrate the news, Netflix released a clip from the upcoming season, which premieres in June. Oh and this has spoilers for season 2, but you should have watched that already!
Orange is the New Black Season 3 will debut in its entirety on Netflix on the 12th of June 2015.
