Those Wars among the Stars are about to get a lot more crowded, with Disney seemingly committed to sending us to a Galaxy Far, Far away every year for the forseeable future.
December 2015 will see the arrival of The Force Awakens but after that things get very interesting indeed as we enter spin-off territory. The first standalone Star Wars universe film, separate from the main trilogies, will debut at the end of 2016. And it might have just found its star.
Tatiana Maslany is being hotly tipped to take on a major role in the upcoming film. If you haven't heard the name that's your loss, the Canuck has been headlining Orphan Black for a couple of years now, basically doing incredible work as multiple clones working together, often on screen at the same time.
She's no doubt a talented actress and the rumours around the Star Wars role are suggesting it could be a major part for the 29 year old. She's long been due a big break, and this could finally be it. The rumour gained traction when Maslany dropped out of Neil LaBute's The Way We Get By on Broadway, perhaps to decamp to another galaxy?
Time will tell, but with a December 2016 release date all but confirmed, it's likely the cast will want to assemble in the next couple of months to get those sabres sorted in time.
