David Cronenberg’s latest
Cosmopolis is starting to look like a major return to form for the director, who has produced some of the most unsettling cinema of the 20th century.
Now the star of
Cosmopolis,
Robert Pattinson, has posed for a set of unique images celebrating the career of
Cronenberg. The shoot, which was organised by
Premiere France magazine, sees the
Twilight star paying homage to titles like
Videodrome and
Dead Ringers – including some stomach churning makeup and more
Pattinson for your money.
Cosmopolis is based on a novel by
Don DeLillo and is essentially about a young banker who goes out into New York City to get a hair-cut and ends up on a dark adventure towards his own annihilation. The images and footage released so far make this look like the
Cronenberg film we’ve been waiting for since the director turned more mainstream with 2005s
A History of Violence. For those who were bored out of their minds by
A Dangerous Method (myself included) check out this trailer for a taste of what’s to come.
Cosmopolis is set to premiere at Cannes in May before a theatrical release some time in 2012.
