The Pitch Perfect series has been earning the adulation of fans and critics alike since it debuted in 2012. The sequel earned some serious box office dollars, making a third film an absolute certainty.
Then things got a little messy as Pitch Perfect 2 director Elizabeth Banks was slated to return but had to drop out, causing the release date of the new film to be moved from mid 2017 to the end of the year.
Happily things are now back on track with the announcement of a new director and confirmation that Banks is still very much on board.
Trish Sie is an award winning dancer and choreographer who picked up a Grammy for her work on that OK Go video with the treadmills. Which is extremely impressive stuff.
She's only directed one film so far, Step Up All In but she'll have plenty of help to get Pitch Perfect 3 up and running, with Banks as well sa a returning cast including Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson.
Pitch Perfect 3 is in cinemas in late 2017.
