Predator is one of the best films of the 80s, in fact it might be THE defining 80s film, and it kicked off a career for John McTiernan which delivered my personal favourite film of all time - Die Hard.
So it's a pretty great action flick, and one that hasn't been that well served on home video. It needed a full restoration and now it has received one in full 2K resolution. It's also going to get a limited cinema run, check out this pretty fancy new trailer.
As you can probably guess from the subtitles, this version is hitting cinemas in France in August. There's no word on it being in cinemas in the rest of Europe and the timing is a bit strange and the film won't be celebrating its 30th anniversary until 2017.
Still this restoration does mean that a cleaned up file exists, and it's a pretty safe bet that a new high def disk will be out by next year at the latest.
