We've already had Captain America Civil War this year but Marvel isn't done with the box office yet.

In October, they'll be unleashing Doctor Strange upon the world. This is easily their biggest gamble in years, with a world that's quite different from what they've been building in the rest of the franchise, and more potential to fail than even Ant-Man.

They do have quite the leading man in Benedict Cumberbatch though, and here's how the official plot synopsis reads:

Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.

Hmm... So he's going to be weilding actual magic then, that's encouraging. Quite how a character like this fits into a wider Avengers pack remains to be seen, but we've already got some pretty outlandish stuff going on.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 also recently finished filming and it is being summed up thusly:

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Obviously enough there are no spoilers here but this particular segment of the universe has plenty to draw from, and we already have some ideas on who we'd like to show up. We're also praying morn and night for Nathan Fillion to have a proper role this time around.

Doctor Strange lands on the 28th of October, GOTG 2 is out in Ireland on the 28th of April, 2017.
