Saoirse Ronan and Domhnall Gleeson's Brooklyn will be in Irish cinemas in November

Brooklyn tells the story of a young woman called Eilis (Saoirse Ronan) who travels to New York in the early 1950s from Ireland. She's seeking a chance at a better life, and finds a job and love in the arms of Tony (Emory Cohen). But when she's forced to return home to Ireland and finds herself drawn to Jim (Domhnall Gleeson) she feels torn between her homes on both sides of the Atlantic.

Based on the best-selling novel by Colm Toibin, the film is directed by John Crowley - the acclaimed Irish director behind Intermission and Boy A. It's a sweeping romance filled with incredible actors at the top of their game, especially Domhnall Gleeson who is on a meteoric rise that will be capped off with Star Wars The Force Awakens in December 2015.

The film was shot in Ireland in April 2014, with the production moving to Montreal for studio and location work to stand in for New York. The cast also includes Jim Broadbent and Julie Walters, and the script was written by Oscar nominated Nick Hornby.

Brooklyn premiered at the Sundance film festival in the US in January 2015 and received strong early reviews from critics. The film will arrive in Irish and American cinemas on the 6th of November, with a UK release following on the 27th of November.
