There's a reboot of Baywatch coming to the big screen, with Dwayne The Rock Johnson set to take on the lead role for what has been described as an action comedy version of the show. That pretty much means as close to 21 Jump Street as possible in the hope of earning some serious money.
Nabbing Senor Rock is a great start, the main has been saving franchises like The Fast and Furious for years, and he's certainly going to fit into a film that will feature its fair share of slow motion shirtless running. It turns out he's going to have some help from an old pro too, as we've just heard that David Hasselhoff will also be appearing in the film.
The now 63 year old actor first stepped into the orange togs as lifeguard Mitch Buchannon for the pilot of Baywatch in 1989 and kept those shorts firmly on for appearances over the next decade and a half. It's probably his most iconic role, with an alarming amount of his time spent shirtless. Which we suppose makes sense for a lifeguard.
There's no news on who the actor will be playing but we're hoping for an early role where he gets killed off spectacularly and makes The Rock vow revenge for his death. That might be the wrong movie. If you're wondering how the Hoff is looking these days, here's a picture of him next to the man mountain who is Dwayne Johnson.
Baywatch also stars Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach and John Bass and is directed by Seth Gordon who helmed Identity Thief. See it in cinemas in May 2017.
