Irish filmmaker Ciaran Foy made an unsettling debut with Citadel - a claustraphobic horror which did wonders with its tiny budget.
The film also managed to capture the attention of American filmmaker Scott Derrickson, best known for helming Sinister and the upcoming Deliver Us From Evil. Derrickson contacted Foy on Twitter in January and, just a couple of months later, the young Irish director was offered the gig for Sinister 2.
That's a hell of a story, throwing Foy right into the middle of the commerically savvy Blumhouse mill - run by Jason Blum (behing the likes of Paranormal Activity and Insidious). Derrickson and returning scribe C. Robert Cargill are working on the script and the shoot is set to begin soon for a release in Summer 2015.
It's a packed year for films in 2015, but something a little more niche and horror centric like Sinister should be able to find an audience and success, especially if the budget is kept low.
Sinister 2 is in cinemas in August 2015.
