The Amazing Spider-Man 2 may not launch until next week, but Sony isn't being shy about it's big plans for the franchise, as well as its potential spin-offs. The studio had already announced that the third instalment in the newly rebooted franchise will hit theatres on June 10th 2016, and it'll mark helmerMarc Webb's final stint in the director's chair, but in an interview with Den of Geek, producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach have lifted the lid on plans for at least a fourth instalment, although it'll have to wait until they get some other business out of the way first!
Before we know what we do withSpider-Man 4, we're going to doSinister Six,VenomandSpider-Man 3. There is going to be a lot of crossover in those movies. So we're just not atSpider-Man 4, because we still have a whole other Spider-Man movie and two other movies. So we don't know yet what [Spider-Man 4] is going to be.
May 4th 2018 is a date that has been flagged for a Spider-Man related release, but Tolmach has confirmed that it definitely won't be Spidey 4. Our guess is that, following The Amazing Spider-Man 3 in 2016, we'll see The Sinister Six in summer 2017, and then Venom taking the May 2018 slot, before Spider-Man 4 in 2019 or 2020.
