Nyong'o was rumoured to be joining the franchise shortly after her Academy Award for best supporting actress, while Christie has been wowing audiences as a formidable warrior in Game of Thrones.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy expressed her delight that Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie were being added to Star Wars: Episode VII. She said, “It's thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape.”
Star Wars: Episode VII is currently shooting in Abu Dhabi. Photos emerged from the set, courtesy of TMZ, which showed a giant creature and the presence of real buildings and sets. This should please fans and hopefully make the film look more like the trilogy we know and love...rather than the other ones…
Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled for release on December 18th, 2015.
