Star Wars: Episode VII will be filmed in Kerry
Co. Kerry will host the cast and crew of Star Wars: Episode VII, as it has been revealed that Skellig Michael, off the Kerry coast, will be one of the filming locations.

The Office of Public Works (OPW) confirmed to Kerry’s Eye that Skellig Michael is being made available for a film production shoot. The spokesperson added that this production is being fully supported by the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, and the Irish Film Board.

Star Wars: Episode VII began shooting earlier this year with filming locations based in Abu Dhabi and London. It is not yet known when filming will begin on Skellig Michael.

Production was delayed in June after Harrison Ford broke his leg when filming at Pinewood Studios outside of London. Let’s hope that there are no such mishaps when Star Wars: Episode VII arrives in Ireland.

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled for release on December 18th, 2015.
