There's a celebration of all things Star Wars taking place right now in California, and a few special guests showed up last night with a gift from a galaxy far, far away. JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy dropped the second teaser for The Force Awakens.
And it went a little like this.
It all starts with a small lone figure and a giant, downed Star Destroyer on a desert planet and it just gets bigger and better from there. We get introduced to the three lead characters once more and get to witness some droids old and new and a few extremely iconic images. But it's all about the ending, with Harrison Ford and Chewbacca (still played by Peter Mayhew) standing aboard the Millennium Falcon and uttering "We're home."
It's a great fan service piece but there's also plenty going on for new fans, and a prevailing sense of mystery about what's actually happening which we hope the production manages to keep as the months roll by. It's definitely a different world to the one brought to life by George Lucas almost 40 years ago but that's not necessarily a bad thing as Abrams has shown his chops with big scale movies like Mission Impossible and Star Trek in the past.
Star Wars the Force Awakens opens in cinemas on the 18th of December 2015.
