Whatever your thoughts on The Force Awakens as a title (let's face it, Star Wars doesn't have the best legacy of strong titles), there's little doubt that anticipationfor the long delayed sequel has been heating up since principal photography ended. And now fans have something else to look forward to.
A number of sources have been talking about the first trailer for the film in recent weeks, including a report that the teaser would be debuting ahead of Warner Bros' The Hobbit finale. That's since been debunked, with the new plan sounding a bit more interesting.
Apparently, Disney will show off the first footage from The Force Awakens at 100 select cinemas in the US over Thanksgiving weekend. The kicker is - the teaser will show in front of EVERY SINGLE MOVIE SHOWING!
That's a massive outlay, even if its just in certain locations, and shows Disney's intent to pitch this new Star Wars to as wide an audience as possible. Unfortunately, it doesn't give a clear idea on when the promo will be shown in he rest of the world, though I wouldn't be surprised if its left as a US exclusive fo awhile before hitting the internet in an official form. We'll no doubt see bootlegs earlier than that though.
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens is directed by J.J. Abrams and comes to cinemas in December 2015.
